Micah 4:6-7

      In that day, declares the LORD,

      I will assemble the lame

                  and gather those who have been driven away

      and those whom I have afflicted;

            7       and the lame I will make the remnant,

      and those who were cast off, a strong nation;

                  and the LORD will reign over them in Mount Zion

      from this time forth and forevermore.

When we watch commercials, we see people we never see in real life, with perfect teeth, selling toothpaste, and clear skin, selling face cream. The real cross section of society needs every one of these products, but they really need the cross itself. In the real world, there are hurting people. Micah wrote at about the same time as Isaiah. Times were good, almost like the commercials. Their message was that their teeth and skin would soon become unsightly. Real life was coming to Israel and Judah and it would be a hard landing. That was the bad news. Then, Micah presented the miracle cure.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow as we celebrate the end of Advent with the promise of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. In chapter 5, Micah described the Messiah that would bring comfort to the afflicted, restoration to the lame, and sight to the blind. His reign would make life like a dream after the “latter days”. Come and see that we are in the latter days and that our Savior will fix our broken teeth and bodies. He is gathering his children who had been cast off to his church and he will make us strong from this time forth.

Dear Lord, you make all things new and we praise you for that blessing. Until then, may we be a blessing to others who have been cast aside. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
