4 You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine; 6 and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”
History has turning points. Recently, we have seen turning points in history with two World Wars, the Influenza Epidemic of 1918, and 9/11. Nothing was the same after these events. The Bible has them too. The creation and the fall were two such events. At our Wednesday Night Bible Study last week, we reached such a point in Exodus 19. The Hebrews had just been delivered from slavery in Egypt by God and he brought them to Mt. Sinai. They would soon enter into covenant with God and receive the first written Bible, the Ten Commandments. They will be a treasured possession and squander that blessing by chasing other gods.
We may be in another turning point in history, a pandemic that could rival the Spanish Flu. But now we have hope because of THE turning point in history; the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are now in a covenant with God in which he himself as a man fulfilled the Law for us. Now we have the promise that we will be a holy nation when Jesus returns as King. Don’t squander this opportunity to honor God. We have this comfort:
We can live for this day because of that day!
God Bless,
Pastor Brad
