And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
At the old time carnivals, a barker would yell outside a tent for you to come in and see the bearded lady or the amazing reptile man for $10. The poor few who actually went in did not come out amazed but did emerge minus their money. Moses was no carnival barker but the prophet of the Lord. He did not charge money to see the sight that was coming. He bid them just be silent. The Lord would do the work and it would truly be amazing. It would be the great deliverance when God parted the Red Sea and the Hebrews crossed on dry land. It would be the amazing disappearing Egyptians!
True, we have not seen anything like this in our lifetime but God does indeed work for us every day. He did the hard work of redemption when Jesus died on the cross. He did the work of defeating death when he rose from the dead. He did the work of salvation when the Holy Spirit dwelt in us. In this battle called life, the Lord will fight for you. You need only to be silently praying to him for his excellent mercy. After that, fear not, stand firm, and see the miracle of the Lord when another sinner is saved by grace!
Dear Lord, thank you for the amazing love and grace you have shown your people over the centuries. We pray that we would worship you for eternity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
