We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven.

I remember a Peanuts cartoon where Linus asks his grandmother when Kids Day is. The response? Everyday is Kid’s Day. Yesterday was the National Day of Prayer. It occurred to me that this may be the one day in the year some Christians pray. If someone asked Paul, “When is National Day of Prayer for the Church in Colossae? His response would be, of course, everyday. We know this from verse 3. Paul and Timothy always pray for them in thanks to God for his salvation, given to them. In fact, from the letters to the other churches, every day is a day of prayer for Paul. It is a natural response.

Let that be the same for us. If you prayed yesterday and it was not customary for you, pray now. Make it a custom to pray, giving thanks to the Lord for the cross, and for the church you are a part of. Praise him for the hope laid up for you in heaven and pray for those in the world who need it. You will find that you will have more love for God and for the saints he has put in your path. Your heart will break for the lost and you will find yourself pointing the way to Jesus Christ. Every day is a good day to pray!

Dear Lord, thank you that you hear us when we pray and you answer our cries for help. We pray that you help a lost soul today. In Jesus, name. Amen.
