But I am sending the brothers so that our boasting about you may not prove empty in this matter, so that you may be ready, as I said you would be. 4 Otherwise, if some Macedonians come with me and find that you are not ready, we would be humiliated—to say nothing of you—for being so confident.

Many of you will remember in ancient times, 2007 to be exact, Netflix began as a company that sent DVD’s. I was thrilled to be able to order movies I loved as a kid and show them to the kids, promoting them as great cinema. That is, until about 5 minutes in when I realized how terrible the movie was. Such was the attitude of Paul after talking up the Corinthians. Now a delegation was going to Corinth and would see how right or wrong Paul was. Paul had boasted to the Macedonian churches that the Corinthians were ready to give to the collection for the poor. He would soon see if they actually gave.

We as Christians have much to boast about. Of course, none of it is for what we have done or given but what God has done for us. It comes out in each of our morning Prayer Meetings. Our lives are not what we do so God will boast of us. It is a response to the grace, mercy, and love God first showed us. In this promotion of Jesus Christ as Lord, Master, and Savior, we will not be humiliated or put to shame. We can have confidence in Jesus Christ.

Dear Lord, thank you for the boasting we can do because of the perfect love of Jesus Christ. May we be promoting him as the Lord of all in the streets. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
