Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

                  “Hallelujah!

                  For the Lord our God

      the Almighty reigns.

            7       Let us rejoice and exult

      and give him the glory,

                  for the marriage of the Lamb has come,

      and his Bride has made herself ready;

            8       it was granted her to clothe herself

      with fine linen, bright and pure”—

for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.

What’s the point? That question is on the mind of so many in recent years and, sadly, an ever increasing number of suicides. The state of the world is not showing them a point or a meaning to life. Therefore, an existentialist philosopher will tell you, death has as much meaning as life. The vision shown to the Apostle John is the point of all this suffering and division that the world is going through. Jesus told us this was coming. Praise the Lord that he also told us HE is coming. The world is scary and at first, this will be scary with loud roars but when it hits home that our Lord has returned, the worship will be real. We will rejoice that he reigns and be ready to become the redeemed and restored bride.

We have the secret to the meaning of life and the point of going on. We go on because Jesus goes on. We endure the sorrow of today because we see the glory of that day when he returns.

Dear Lord, thank you for your promised return. May we share the hope of the end of the story to those who contemplate ending their story. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
