26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

World Peace. The desire of beauty pageant contestants the world over. There has never been a time when we could declare world peace. I saw an article that called the 17th century one of the worst. Some are calling this century the best. The present war between Israel and Hamas is evidence to the contrary but even if there are less deaths due to war and crime, the absence of peace in the words of our social media users and the absence of peace in the hearts of the vast majority of people is the smoking gun. We need peace, not world peace, but Light of the World peace.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow as we celebrate the real peace that comes only through the peace treaty enacted by Jesus on the cross. He came to earth in a manger and walked out of the empty tomb to ratify the articles of surrender that we must obey. This Christmas, may we be in submission to the promise of peace in the face of the threat of war. The Helper will come. Let not your hearts be troubled. There will be…

Peace in his time.

Dear Lord, thank you for peace in Christ Jesus. May we shine it like a light for the world to see. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
