And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down or pay homage to him, Haman was filled with fury. 6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone. So, as they had made known to him the people of Mordecai, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus.

We see evidence all around us of the existence of God, such as sunsets or the love of his saints. We also see evidence of Satan’s existence in the irrational hatred people have for each other. The most recent example isd the hatred of Jews, not only by Hamas, but in our universities and in congress. Far too many people think this is something new. Pharaoh sought to keep the Jews under submission in slavery. Here we see the utter hatred of Haman toward all Jews because of the actions of one man, Mordecai.

Throughout history, from Pharaoh, to Haman, from Medieval Europe to Hitler, to Hamas, and Harvard, this irrational hatred must have one explanation, the connection to a holy and just God who created the universe and demands our obedience. Both Jews and Christians symbolize the existence of God in our midst. We are chosen by God to live for him and not ourselves and that enrages those who want to be their own god. When we refuse to bow down to the world’s idols, the rage is incomprehensible, except to those who have experienced the relationship with God through Jesus. May someone see God in us today and either get angry or saved.

Dear Lord, thank you for the gospel message that is life to us and foolishness to the perishing. Change someone’s outlook today by showing yourself to them today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
