35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body do they come?” 36 You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain.

You may have heard someone say at a seminar Q&A session that there is no such thing as a dumb question. The speaker will soon need to revise that comment. There are indeed dumb questions. It seems that these two from some poor soul in Corinth would fit the bill though we are hard pressed to see why. These are questions we would like answers to so we can be comforted and comfort others in their grief. We want to assure them that they will see their loved ones again. Paul’s answer is obvious to any gardener. If we hold a seed in our hand, it will remain a seed with no purpose whatsoever. If we bury the seed, however, the true destiny of that life form will be realized and it will beautify the earth and/or feed God’s creation.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow as we link arms with the foolish person of Corinth and learn what our future body will be like. We will see that this world is not the real world and this is not our real selves. The real you is yet to come. Let us worship the Lord for the future hope of a new body.

Dear Lord, thank you that you have a new body waiting for us when the time comes. Please accept our worship for this good news. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
