For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
The summer is winding down and Vicki will be back to teaching computer and engineering next week. Praise the Lord that we were able to get away a fair bit to relax in the Lord. It was the time for it. Time is a curious thing, when you think about it. Even that sentence about the present is now in the past. Only God knows how time truly works because he is not only outside the timeline, he is the timeline. These things get so abstract that we cannot understand them. That is why we need God. That is why he came down in time to fix the sin of the past by Adam and present himself on a cross for the future salvation of those he chose. Now, time makes much more sense. It is a tool of God to relate to his people.
And, in these last days, to use us for his purpose for such a time as this. It is no accident that the world seems to be progressing away from past tradition. The world intends to discard the past and live for the present with a scant eye to the future. May we show them that future.
Dear Lord, thank you for the cross and help us point people to a glorious future life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
