You will say in that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O LORD,
for though you were angry with me,
your anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2 “Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation
When God ransomed the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt and brought them through the Red Sea, Miriam sang a song of praise to God for what he had just done in the near past. Unfortunately, Israel broke the covenant that God made through Moses at that time. 700 years later, Isaiah spent 11 chapters telling Judah that the curses were coming. But so was a deliverance. A Son would be born of a virgin and would be Mighty God on earth. Immanuel. This song is a preview of the response “in that day”.
At Cape Community Church, many of us have had some really tough times with health issues especially. In recent months, we have adopted a phrase to get us through those times. I can endure this day because of that day. When Jesus returns, we will sing these praises to our Lord when he comes to reign in a new kingdom. It may be like this from Revelation 19
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
the Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made herself ready;
8 it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
Dear Lord, thank you for that day. Help us to endure this day because of it. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
