Paul, called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and our brother Sosthenes,

2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

If the 1970’s were known as the “Me Decade”, what can we call this one? How about the “This is how it feels to Me Decade”? That sounds about right. This has even permeated into our Christian walk. The acrimony in the American church has served to sour the Christian’s view of church and the last three years have not helped with church online. Therefore, the community has taken a back seat to the “Me”. The result is whatever people feel must be alright because they are Christians after all. We need a revival of the gathering together of believers. Paul’s greeting to a struggling church plant in Achaia will be a good start.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow as we begin a new series in 1 Corinthians called “Called to be Saints Together.” It is lifted right out of verse 2. Come and see as we study the trials and travails of a first century church how to be a 21st century church.

Dear Lord, thank you for calling us to yourself and to the church. Help us to praise you for our call and to honor the call to the church. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
