For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Objection, hearsay, your Honor. The various trials of the century, like O. J. Simpson and the Lindbergh kidnapping, not to mention the scandalous Johnny Depp defamation suit, have served as well as Perry Mason to educate us on what is admissible evidence. Hearing someone say something about someone else is not admissible in court but it is commanded in church because of this verse. We are sharing the eyewitness testimony of multiple people who were there. In court, an eyewitness usually seals the deal. If anyone in the churches Peter wrote to were wavering in their faith because of persecution, he helped them stand firm with the expert testimony of the Transfiguration, when he witnessed the divinity of Jesus Christ.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow to see how this would serve to bolster the faith of the churches in Asia Minor and how it can help us stand firm in 2022 and beyond. We are simply stating what has been passed down to us from eyewitnesses of his majesty. We will learn how the Transfiguration of Christ can help us be transformed into ardent followers of him who suffered, died, and rose again. Peter saw these things and gave them to us so we can believe and be fellow witnesses with him of the glory of Jesus…

Who transfigured history.
