Psalm 7:1
1 O LORD my God, in you do I take refuge;
save me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
David wrote these words as he was pursued by a man named Cush, a Benjamite, David’s own tribe, but also that of Saul, who was replaced by David. In all that turmoil, David cried to the Lord. This is in keeping with David’s strong suit of inquiring of the Lord when faced with a problem. It was why he was a man after God’s own heart. He pursued God’s heart in all things. David did something in this psalm that can teach us when we are in tough times. After crying out for relief and justice, David ended the psalm with these words,
I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High.
He knew the Lord would hear him and answer him.
You are most likely going through something. The interruption to your life may be small or great but the pandemic and the unrest have affected everyone. You may be struggling financially because of loss of work. You may be unable to see loved ones because of travel restrictions. You may have problems with health, relationships, or depression. Cry out for deliverance to the only one who can give refuge. He is the only one in control of this earth. Know that he will hear and deliver you. It may not be what you wished, but he will answer you. Through all of this, there is one thing that need not be affected, our love of God and our gratitude for the cross of Jesus Christ. No matter what happens here, what happened there saved us and delivered us. Now we can end our cry the same way David ended his.
I will sing praise to the name of the LORD, the Most High.
