Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, 9 if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well.

At Cape Community Church, we have been in a sermon series on the Life of Peter. We have seen how this fisherman was called by Jesus to be a fisher of men. We have also seen how many mistakes Peter made in following Jesus. He did not know Jesus fully, nor his mission to die for us. There was something missing from Peter’s life. Then Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to heaven, leaving the running of the new church to the likes of Peter. The new church would need help. Then came Acts, where Jesus continued to do and teach. He sent the Holy Spirit.

Before Acts 2, Peter went by his wits. By Acts 4, he was filled with the Holy Spirit and could expound the gospel message clearly, with full knowledge of who Jesus is and what he did. Today, you may have gotten little sleep, worrying about all the things you must do today. Are you relying on your wits or the Lord? Let’s begin this day with prayer for the Holy Spirit to guide and direct so we see results like we see in Peter. You may not participate in the healing of a crippled man, but you will experience the power of…

A Living God.
