They shall not labor in vain
or bear children for calamity,
for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the LORD,
and their descendants with them.
24 Before they call I will answer;
while they are yet speaking I will hear.
25 The wolf and the lamb shall graze together;
the lion shall eat straw like the ox,
and dust shall be the serpent’s food.
They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain,”
says the LORD.
“No news is good news.” It seems we can adapt that statement to the present day as, “No news is good.” There is a real shortage of feel good stories in the world. Those we do see are acts of kindness that were once expected, like giving up a seat in a lifeboat. Now giving up a seat on the bus goes viral. The world needs good news and a hero. Isaiah’s prophecy goes about describing this hero who will not only give up his seat on the throne but his very life so that we would have good news to proclaim. The hero is Jesus Christ and the good news is the gospel.
These verses tell us that the news of the world cannot compare to the Good News of the Savior of the world. When he returns, there will be no more arguments about abortion. It will be no more. We will glory in the presence of the Lord without fear of beast or foe. There will be no more strife because the Prince of Peace will supply it, being the only one who can. We can believe this, which is more than we can say for most news sources. It is in the Bible. This world will be replaced with a kingdom…
Says the Lord.
