Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:15
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
Romans 8:18
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
Romans 8:31
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Romans 8:38
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
What can I add to this? These 5 passages from chapter 8 encapsulate the hope, joy, peace, and love that is in Christ Jesus. Paul told those in Rome who would soon be persecuted that they have a heavenly Father who promises so much more than this world and its suffering, that no man or no thing can take that away from them.
Read Romans 8. It offers the same comfort to us. This has been a long ordeal and we still don’t know what comes next. We never do. That is why we need to clutch these promises with both hands, cry out to him for he hears, keep an eye on the coming kingdom with the blessed assurance that it is ours, no matter what happens to us. After reading Romans 8, pray for those who endure this without these promises. Then cry, “Abba! Father!”
