Galatians 1:18-20
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Cephas and remained with him fifteen days. 19 But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord’s brother. 20 (In what I am writing to you, before God, I do not lie!)
I am sure you have heard people ask the questions, “If you could have dinner with one person in history, who would it be?” A celebrity recently replied, bizarrely, Hitler. The other question is similar. “If you could be present at any moment in history, what would that event be?” I have heard the crucifixion but I am not sure they are ready for that. If you ask me, these verses are the answer to both questions! Peter was the right hand man of Jesus and was tasked with feeding his sheep. Saul of Tarsus was the persecutor turned disciple who would soon become Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles. Here they were, together for 15 days. Imagine the dinner discussion! Peter telling Paul what Jesus was like. And then James shows up and tells him what he was like growing up. No wonder Paul had to add that he was not lying.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and see how history was made in the first century and how the gospel is still making history in the 21st. Let’s learn together how we can be a part of this special moment in history, when Jesus rescues another soul from bondage into freedom. Pray for that person today and then join us for Communion when we approach the banqueting table for…
Dinner with the King!
