Do you not know? Do you not hear?

    Has it not been told you from the beginning?

    Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth?

It is he who sits above the circle of the earth,

    and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers;

who stretches out the heavens like a curtain,

    and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;

who brings princes to nothing,

    and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness.

“If I told you once…”. If your childhood was anything like mine, you can finish the phrase. You can also finish it if you raised or are raising a child like I was. No matter what I was told, I just had to find out the hard way, with injuries. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God…”. From the beginning, man has been rather forgetful about this Creator of theirs. The Israelites were especially poor with names. They could not remember the God who saved them from Egypt. Isaiah spent 66 chapters reminding them that the Lord God is there and always has been. Verse 22 would also suggest that people before Columbus knew the earth was round. What they did not know was that their love for God was flat.

The same chapter that warns against forgetting God’s presence is the same chapter that begins, “Comfort, comfort my people…”. Our amnesia regarding our God is rampant all over the world. It is time for us to send a memo to the world. Come and see one who knows everything about me! It is the Lord Jesus Christ. We ignore him at our peril and the world is beginning to show it. He will bring our princes to nothing and the world will be shocked, though it was…

Told from the beginning.
