According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
When we go on our Prayer Walks, we have one crack at a lot of the passersby we encounter. When we are rebuffed, which often occurs, we console ourselves in the fact that it takes an average of six touches with the gospel before someone is saved and we may have been touch number one. That is the foundation on which the next person can build. The Apostle Paul, in his argument against following specific men, presented himself as a specialist in basement building. The others can come along with the frame, the siding, and the roof. That is how the house gets built by a team.
We can learn a lot from this illustration to the church in Corinth. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. It tasks a team to fulfill the Great Commission. That is why he gave it to all the disciples instead of one or two. It takes a team to plant a church. Barnabas and Saul had a team when they left Antioch in Acts 13. Finally, we learn the lesson Paul gave the Corinthians that we should never put our faith in a minister of the gospel but in the Author of the gospel, Jesus Christ. He is the foundation of our faith, as well as the finisher. It is by grace that we are saved and it is by grace that we serve…
Lay a foundation today.
