The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

In 1947, a shepherd boy threw a rock down a cave and heard the sound of smashing pottery. A further search unearthed the Dead Sea Scrolls. Another further search of those scrolls gave us fragments of almost all of the Old Testament books and the treasure that is the Great Isaiah Scroll. It is the book of Isaiah in its entirety. Before this discovery, the earliest known copy of Isaiah was from 1000 AD. This scroll is dated to 150 BC, 1,150 years earlier. Scholars had until then doubted certain verses in Isaiah because they were so obviously about Jesus that they believed Christians must have added them after Jesus. That is no longer possible. Isaiah 53 speaks of the suffering servant, crushed for our iniquities. By his stripes we are healed. God gave those words to Isaiah in 700 BC.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow or join us on YouTube Live to learn why the New Testament authors quoted Isaiah more than any other prophet, indeed, more than any other book save Deuteronomy. In our study of the call of Isaiah in chapter 6, we will learn how to read Isaiah, not just as a long ago predictor of things to come, but as a herald of the coming Messiah and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave his people 700 years to get ready. We will be able to get ready for the Savior in a little over 70 minutes this Sunday morning.

Let’s make a discovery!
