Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. 46 And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray.

People will go a long way to see something they like. Some will go to distant lands to see their culture. Others would camp out to get a good seat at a concert. All the disciples had to do was get into a boat and go across. Their obedience to Jesus would result in their witnessing one of the greatest miracles he performed. In doing something so seemingly mundane, they would see Jesus walking on the water! They had a great story to tell and they could testify to the great power of the Messiah. They were convinced even more of his divinity and they owe it all to the fact that they were willing to get into the boat.

Great things can happen in America in 2021 if we just practice simple obedience to the commands of Jesus. When we think about the sacrifice of Jesus, the first command is easy. We love the Lord because of what he did for us in dying for us. Easy. We love him so much that we love those he loves. Easy. He also commands us to go and make disciples. Easy. We want everyone to experience the grace we received. All we have to do is get into the boat. Hard. Why is that? Sometimes we don’t want to do the mundane because we think it is pointless. Praying for people in the street seems pointless when almost all of them think we are crazy and want to be left alone. Other times, we witness someone getting saved. Just by…
