Psalm 113:5-9

Who is like the LORD our God,

      who is seated on high,

            6       who looks far down

on the heavens and the earth?

7       He raises the poor from the dust

and lifts the needy from the ash heap,

8       to make them sit with princes,

with the princes of his people.

9       He gives the barren woman a home,

making her the joyous mother of children.

                  Praise the LORD!

There is no better place on earth to see the cross section of humanity on earth than an airport. If you have a long layover, look at the people who pass through a major international airport terminal. There will be people of all nationalities and races, the rich and the poor and the in-between. While some sit in first class and most in economy, if there is a problem on the plane, they are all equal in their need of salvation from a major accident. Being in the front or the back makes no difference to gravity.

That is how our Lord Jesus Christ looks at the church. Look around at the people in your church this Easter Sunday. You will see some people for the first time along with folks that have been coming for years. You will see rich and poor from different ethnicities. As you look, bear in mind that they are all equal in their need for salvation. Being white or black, rich or poor makes no difference to Jesus. Gloriously, he blesses the poor and barren along with those we deem important. We all sit at the same table!

O Heavenly Father, you look down on us like a proud Father, whether we are rich or poor. We Praise you for the riches found in Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
