Revelation 5:1-2
Then I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll written within and on the back, sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?”
Books have been the greatest repository of knowledge for thousands of years. I have a particular mania for them and collect them. Their importance especially comes through here. As John’s vision continued in chapter 5, the focus moved from the one seated on the throne, to a book, in the form of a scroll, in His right hand. The Greek word Biblion is where we get the name, Bible, from. This must be a very important book. What is in it? There’s a problem. We cannot know unless there is someone who is worthy to open it for us. We hate not knowing and that hatred has killed many a cat. It made John weep.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and learn that, thankfully, there is an answer. The vast majority of books written over these thousands of years have been written to know the meaning of life and whether there is a plan for all this or if we are just meaningless atoms. All answers waste paper unless one, who is worthy, opens the scroll and shows us the plan. Join us tomorrow as we open the book, the Bible, and see the one who can show us the plan and its conclusion. We will worship the Lion and the Lamb who was slain.
O Heavenly Father, you are on your throne but you sent the Lion and the Lamb so we could be victorious. May we fall down in worship. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
