Galatians 5:16-18

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

In days of old, people said “Walk the walk” and “WWJD?”, then did whatever they wanted. Athletes and entertainers would wear the WWJD bracelet in their mugshot. Paul wrote to the church in the region of Galatia that to walk the walk as Jesus did meant to be opposed to the walk of the flesh. In these churches, they not only had to deal with false teaching from the Judaizers, but the false doctrine that grace meant that you could sin without guilt. there were two ways to walk, Paul said. His recommended steps were to walk in the Spirit and remain contrary to the flesh. They do not go well together.

What do you want to do? If you have experienced the love of God, seeing his perfection and your sin, and then experienced his forgiveness and love, what you will want to do is exactly what will please the God who did so much for you. If we walk in the flesh, we will stumble. If we as a church walk by the Spirit in prayer, imagine how people will see us on our Prayer Walks! The world will know us by our love. Join us on our next Prayer Walk and you will see that walking by the Spirit, loving our neighbor, and prayer…

Go very well together.
