Revelation 1:12-13

Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest.

There is a new video of the LA fire that features the actor Nicholas Cage just happening to pass by. Most of us know the rush we feel when we meet a celebrity. Try as we may, we can become starstruck, knowing full well that there is nothing truly different about them. The Apostle John walked with Jesus and would no longer be starstruck by any mere mortal. He saw the risen Jesus. Then he saw him again! It is another story to see Jesus in all his glory as John described him here in Revelation 1. In later verses we see his reaction. He could no longer stand. No celebrity is worth that reaction, but the Famous One is.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and be starstruck like John as we open Scripture and Jesus Christ the King leaps off the page in all his glory. We should almost be like teenage girls at a Beatles concert. Imagine what it will be like when we actually see him in person. It will be reminiscent of Isaiah when he saw him. We will see our sin. Praise God that his blood removes that barrier between us and the Father. Jesus is speaking. May today be the day we turn to see him in all his glory.

O Heavenly Father, thank you for presenting yourself to us on earth as the God Man Jesus Christ. May we turn to see you and fall on our knees in worship. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
