Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.” 17 The woman answered him, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true.”

We all can look back at the time we first met someone, not realizing that our lives would never be the same again. I think of my meeting Vicki in high school. Here, a Samaritan woman went to the well as she did multiple times daily. This one time, she met someone. She soon would realize that her life would never be the same. The above verses were the turning point in the conversation. Jesus displayed his holy and divine knowledge of the woman’s sin. Her reaction says a lot about Jesus. A woman today would dump the pail over the man who said such a thing to her.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and meet God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We will be convicted of our sin because the all knowing God will reveal it to us, just as he revealed her sin to the woman at the well. When we met Jesus, we soon realized that our lives would never be the same so our behavior would change also. God the Father, who is Spirit, sent God the Son, as a man, to make that plain to us. The Holy Spirit now has that role. Our lives will never be the same.

Dear Lord, thank you that you who never change, change us who must. From this day on, may we remember the day we met and be thankful. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
