Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles who had run the race to the end.  He was also the master of the run-on sentence as these 4 verses of the 7 verse opening sentence of Romans prove. Into this short section though, Paul managed to cram the whole of Scripture. In it we see that God planned to send his Son in the flesh to earth from the beginning and the Old Testament prophets, including his ancestor David, testified to it. He rose from the dead, is now Lord in heaven, and sets apart, calls, and sends his servants. Paul was very succinct indeed!

As the rest of the letter to the Romans shows, these promises are for us too. Jesus was sent to save the world, Jews and Gentiles, indeed, all those who believe. That’s how much God so loved the world. He sent his Son. He sent his Spirit. He calls, sets apart, and sends his servants like Paul and like you and me to all nations or to the supermarket to make disciples.

It seems everything has changed in the last 10 months or so but we can see from these words that Jesus Christ and the gospel remain the same. Therefore, our outlook on life can also remain the same. When it comes to telling people what God has done…

We could go on and on!
