Hear a just cause, O LORD; attend to my cry!

Give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit!

2       From your presence let my vindication come!

Let your eyes behold the right!

Bossy boots! Perhaps you have been called that but I doubt recently since it is from a bygone era. It is unflattering nonetheless and people bristle in the presence of one. Here is David, a man after God’s own heart, bossing God around seemingly. There is a slight difference however. In this instance, David told God to do something that is perfectly within his power. If God could not or would not answer David’s prayer, there would be no point in prayer. David knew there was a beautiful reason to pray to his God. It was because, time and again, God did answer prayer. Every time David enquired of the Lord, there was instruction and protection. Here then, when David needed help, he knew who to call and he did so.

Come to Cape Community church tomorrow as we cry corporately, as a body, for God to intervene in our lives, in the church, and in the world. We will tell God to keep us and guard us but not because we are bossy boots. It is for the same reason David did. We know God is all powerful and is loving and merciful. We know that he loves us because he sent his Son to die for us. Jesus came as an answer to the cry of mankind, “Save me!”  He will attend the cry of all who attend tomorrow.

Dear Lord, thank you for your attentive ear to the cries of your children. May we be attentive to your answers to prayer no matter what they are. In Jesus’ name. Amen.,
