Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
In Exodus, God called Moses to lead God’s people out of Egypt but Moses was doubtful of his own abilities. Moses needed to be told repeatedly that God would be with him and lead the way. After 40 years leading the Israelites through the wilderness, Moses died and Joshua became the new leader. Although he was more assertive and confident than Moses, Joshua needed God and in Joshua chapter 1, God told Joshua 3 times to be strong and courageous.
No matter how many times we say, “I got this!”, God tells us he is with us wherever we go, even if, like now, we’re not going out much. When we are ready to confess to God that we need him, we are ready to be used by God. Jesus said, “apart from me you can do nothing.” We need to be branches connected to the vine. We need to believe Jesus when he tells us, I am with you always, until the end of the age. In these times, people are watching to see if God’s people are in fear and doubt. The Bible tells us repeatedly to be strong and courageous. He will lead us out of this.
