Make me to know your ways, O LORD;
teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.
I am not a fan of technology and I am convinced the feeling is mutual. One aspect I do like though is GPS. I feel far less lost and stressful when a female voice tells me which way to go because I have been very lost many times on the roads. There are many examples of Bible heroes needing directions. Moses asked God to show the way. The psalmist repeats it in Psalm 119. Here, David wrote in Psalm 25 that he needed directions. We can see by these two verses that it is not actual physical directions he needs but spiritual. This is an appeal to Scripture. Psalm 119 is all about the Bible and its benefits, as are many of David’s psalms.
If Moses and David, who wrote Scripture, needed Scripture to know how to go, how much more do we need it. Imagine driving on unfamiliar roads looking for your destination without guidance. It is in recent memory. Now imagine people walking this earth, aimlessly seeking something that will teach them truth and save them, and never finding it. Imagine being lost for your entire life! It is heartbreaking and exposes the urgency in getting direction into their life. If you can, give someone a Bible today. It is the road map they didn’t know they needed.
Dear Lord, thank you for the Bible which teaches us your path and your ways. Help us to teach others which way to turn, which is toward you and the cross for salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
