The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
23 This is the LORD’s doing;
it is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day that the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save us, we pray, O LORD!
O LORD, we pray, give us success!
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!
We bless you from the house of the LORD.
Church Planter is an apt term to use for the BFC Board of Church Extension because they are not church builders. That is God. Jesus himself told Peter that he would build his church. The psalmist prophesied that he will also be the cornerstone of that church, which is not a building but his body on earth. In this psalm of thanksgiving, the LORD is praised for the temple, its gates, and its foundation. He is blessed to enter the house of the Lord.
That is exactly the feeling when we worship the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the cornerstone of his church and we are blessed to enter through its doors and immediately feel his presence in the love of his people. This love is the Lord’s doing because man loves himself above all, not others. He gave us this coming Lord’s Day to rejoice and be glad in it. He hears our corporate prayer for his will in this broken world. We are blessed when we come to the house of the Lord, his church. Do not reject the stone that started it. Be one of the living stones this Sunday.
Dear Lord, thank you for the church and the Bible so we can worship you and know you better. Help us gather together and be blessed. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
