Exodus 7:1-2

And the LORD said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. 2 You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall tell Pharaoh to let the people of Israel go out of his land.

See, I told you so! These are not our favorite words to hear, especially after we have done something especially foolish. The people who say these words tend to be unfriended and left off the Christmas card list. When these words are spoken by God, however, it is good all the time. Moses was a reluctant hero of the Bible. He wanted God to choose anyone but him but God chooses who he chooses and we can do nothing to stop it. There are three men mentioned in these two verses, Moses, the least likely hero, his brother Aaron, the prophet who spoke for God, and Pharaoh, the most powerful man in the known world. Now look at what God has done for Moses, and not the others. “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh”. Amazing!

God is still in the amazing business. Do you think you have sinned too much for God to save you? God chooses who he chooses and you can’t stop it. Do you think you are not talented enough for God to use you? Moses thought that once. He soon found out that whatever God has for him to do, he will do it. You can too. In no way is that a motivational pep talk. It is a fact of the Sovereign God who wills and archives his good purpose, using weak vessels. Next time you think it can’t happen and God does it, imagine his words…

See, I told you so!
