Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 3 We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry, 4 but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way…
From now on, everything will change. This is a common refrain of sinners the world over. They will never lash out at their spouse. They will get sober etc. It is very different when God says, “from now on”, as Paul wrote a few sentences before. God promised through Isaiah that Israel would see the day of salvation. Paul told the Corinthians that now is that time because Jesus came to earth, died, and was resurrected. From now on, we are changed. We see everyone as God sees them, and we work together with him, achieving his work in the world, making disciples and loving our neighbor. Paul is commending himself again but he is simply saying he is doing what a grateful servant does.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and see what we are to do from now on, now that we have been saved. Now is the favorable time for God to act in another person’s life and the day of salvation is now for someone today. May we learn that we are to do all the things Paul and his cohort did; to serve and suffer for the King of kings with the mind of Christ. Come and see what can happen from now on in your life.
Dear Lord, thank you for the time of salvation which is now because of Jesus and his death on the cross. We pray that now would be the time for a loved one to be saved from now on. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
