And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Yesterday I lost the little rubber cover to my earbuds while cycling. Never mind, I thought, I have a vague memory of the spares I keep somewhere. Do you think I can find them? You’re right. I can’t. This is because I did not need them before. Now that I do, I am keen to see them. That is the way people are with the gospel. It stares them in the face but, because their lives are going okay, who needs the Good News? I am good all by myself. That is, until they need help. Paul spoke to Corinth of a veiled gospel. It is plenty visible but the veil is over the eyes of the blind who are perishing.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and see what others cannot see, the gospel, bright and clear, shining light on all who are unveiled. We will answer the question, “Who put the veil there?”. Is it God? Is it Satan? Is it man? The important question is, “How can this veil be lifted?” It is only through the Risen Christ who perished for us that we perishing can see clearly what has been done and what we must do. Come tomorrow and see that the Lord is good.
Dear Lord, thank you for your infinite goodness and for revealing it to the blind so we can see. Help us to worship you for your excellent goodness. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
