Since we have such a hope, we are very bold, 13 not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. 14 But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away.

When we drive a car over a bridge, we are boldly expressing our confidence in that bridge because it has been inspected and approved. If we saw a sign that said, “Bridge May Collapse”, we would be far more furtive. Paul said as much to the church in Corinth. Moses was the mediator of a covenant they could not keep. It was a bridge too far. But with this new covenant, Paul could boldly proclaim his salvation and his call to ministry because it had been approved by his Lord, Savior, and Master, Jesus Christ.

We too have such a hope. Who knows how much longer we can trust our 100 year old bridges in our crumbling American infrastructure. One thing we do know is that in another 100 years, indeed for eternity, we can cross the chasm from sin to salvation because of the bridge built by Jesus. We can boldly stride across, knowing that he promised we would get to the other side if we believe in him for the forgiveness of sins. The veil is removed and he has unveiled a plan that is a guaranteed success so let us be bold.

Dear Lord, thank you that we can boldly proclaim our salvation, not on our merit but yours. Help us to boldly show the glory of God to someone today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
