And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people. 24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, those having seizures, and paralytics, and he healed them. 25 And great crowds followed him from Galilee and the Decapolis, and from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.

No matter how good an owner’s manual is at using language to explain how to do something, a video beats it every time. It has changed how we fix things. Watching an expert do it is the best way to learn. That is why Jesus was the best teacher who ever lived. He went where he told his disciples to go and did what he told his disciples to do. There is nothing in the Great Commission that Jesus did not first do. The results are evident here. Many followed Jesus.

The results will be evident in our churches if we allow Jesus to show us how to teach and lead. He does so in his word. Then, having read how to do it in his word, we can demonstrate the going out and gospel proclamation so those we lead can follow Jesus more closely because it was shown to them. We who follow the greatest teacher who ever lived can emulate him and teach others how to live with him forever. Keep your eyes on Jesus!

Dear Lord, thank you for the example of the greatest teacher who ever lived. May we learn more from him today and hand it down to the next generation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
