Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, 4 who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks but all the churches of the Gentiles give thanks as well. 5 Greet also the church in their house.

There is a reason the BFC Board of Church Extension recruits helpful couples to be a “Priscilla and Aquila” team for a church plant. They are indispensable to the church planter. You can also see that fact in the thanks that Paul poured out for these fellow tent makers and for the church that met in their house. That house was in Corinth, from where Paul wrote Romans. They helped Paul in Corinth, but also in Ephesus. Prisca and Aquila were so dedicated to the Great Commission that they risked death for Paul and the kingdom. Their influence was felt throughout the region and they were loved by all the churches.

I know that there are many Priscillas and Aquilas that would be useful in our church plants in the Bible Fellowship Church. The work is hard. The risks, while not yet to the point of danger, are there. Yet the Lord calls us to carry our cross and follow him. Perhaps the Lord is calling you to pick up the cross and follow him to a mission church near you or far away. May we be fellow workers together as we seek to make disciples of all nations, starting with this one. When you meet a Priscilla and Aquila, greet them and thank them for giving to the Lord!

Dear Lord, thank you for calling us to serve in ways we never imagined. Help us to imagine what you can do through us today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
