For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it. 14 And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace, 16 was pleased to reveal his Son to me…
As children, we probably thought we were fooling our parents when we lied to them about the cookie jar or some such thing but in their wisdom, they knew that kids are notorious liars because they were kids once themselves. This is different. Paul thought he was serving his Father in heaven but he was living a lie and God knew it because he is omniscient and sovereign. Long before Paul made his mistakes, God knew he would and called him before he created the universe. How very special Paul must have been to receive such grace!
Not so fast. Insert your name in the place of Paul and you have some idea of just how all-knowing and all-powerful the God of all Creation really is. He is so powerful that he can take lying children like you and me and call us to himself, long before we were born and long before the universe was born! Many have not heard of your former life but God has and he loves you with a steadfast, everlasting love. When God was pleased to reveal his grace to Paul, he immediately obeyed the Lord. God was pleased to reveal his grace to you…
What will you say to him?
