You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

The last couple editions of A Very Present Help have been about the presence of the Lord in churches and their reliance on him and his word. In the late 60’s AD, under the persecution of Nero, Peter had a similar message to the many churches who received this letter shortly before his death. 2nd Peter is more personal, and therefore, he ended the letter with an appeal to the individual within the church. Each Christian, under pressure to be safe, needs to have an anchor. That anchor is the Bible. With a firm knowledge of the gospel message, we are moored and grounded and thus impervious to wind and storms. That is what Peter wanted his hearers to hear.

Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and you will hear this  message to the first century church and apply it to the 21st century. We will see that the more time we spend in the word and on our knees, the less time we will spend spinning around in mid-air, not knowing where we are going or where we will land. We will learn to be stabilized by the knowledge of Jesus, his death, his resurrection, and his return. This will get us ready to glorify him now…

And forevermore.
