Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, 12 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, 13 so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

Why say 3,000 words when a few will do? That is a question asked of authors and, I suppose, could be asked of preachers. It is true that fewer words are less time consuming but 3,000 words, fitly spoken, are edifying to the body. Here, Paul used few words to encapsulate the gospel and our response to it. We are to grow, to love one another and our neighbor, in response to the sacrifice on the cross and resurrection, until he comes again. Note how I got it into one sentence. Paul wrote to these Thessalonians that were sitting around because they thought the world did not matter anymore. They were waiting like we do but they were not obedient.

That is our call to be obedient, loving those in the church and the lost. We are to look the part of a follower of Christ because of the price he paid to claim us. We are to wait for his coming while making disciples and communing together. There is not much to add to this but the Lord has given us his word in 66 books so let us study it to be able to love Jesus, each other, and others better. God is in his heaven and we are here on earth with lots to do so…

Let our words be few.
