For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 21 For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness
“I wish I had never been born.” That is a common phrase heard the world over daily. I would sometimes say it when stuck in traffic to my shame. But when a person is born again, they can never be “never born again”. These verses, along with Hebrews 6:4-9, are pointed at as places in Scripture that show us we can lose our salvation. It would seem at first glance to be rock solid until we realize that, like the parable of the soils, the hearer may like what they hear and respond but still be a slave to sin. They are born but not “born again”. Therefore, when they fall, they have returned to their mud puddle, not left the kingdom of God.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and learn what it means to be a follower of Christ and what it means to be “They”. We will learn that we were once they and they can be we and we are slaves to our Master and Lord Jesus Christ. Come and see that those who are born again will never be slaves of sin again. Stuck in sin?…
Jesus is your escape.
