But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.
“Boy, do I hate being right all the time.” Those are the words of Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park as he warned of trouble if you mess with dinosaurs. If Peter walked the earth today and heard some of the preaching on TV and in our pulpits, he would say something akin to Ian Malcolm. He would surely be sorrowful that he was right when he made this prediction to the churches. Jesus made a similar statement in Matthew 24:11.
11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
And Jesus was right all the time. The prophecy was coming true in record time as Paul battled it in his first letters to the Galatians and the Thessalonians. They taught that Jesus already returned. They taught that he was not really God. There is nothing new under the sun.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow and see how everything Jesus and Peter predicted is coming to pass today. False prophets claim to speak for God and will let you in on it for a price. They teach that Jesus died for everyone so everyone is saved, even if they reject him. False teachers say that if Jesus were alive today, he would approve of all that we call sin because he forgives. These messages are old and getting older. Come see what Peter said in Scripture about false prophets and Jesus. There is nothing new under the sun but you will see…
The Son makes everything new.
