When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the reeds by the river bank. 4 And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him.
“I don’t know! We’ll find out!” Sean Connery’s line from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade illustrates that the future is out of our hands and we can be excited about that. God chose Moses as his servant to lead his people out of slavery. For that to happen, he must survive the purge of baby boys in Egypt. Moses’ mother did not know that so she could only look on, wondering if her son would survive. He did and ended up in Pharaoh’s household and eventually led the Hebrews to the Promised Land. Had his mother known this, she would have been comforted to know that everything would be okay.
We have that assurance. God has written out the ending in Revelation. Even though we do not know exactly when or how these things will take place, we know they will because we have the promises of God and he has never broken a promise. If you feel as if you are in a basket, floating on the Nile with no seeming direction, take heart. God knew you would be right where you are because he ordained it. Praise the Lord he has ordained victory for his people so even though the score looks lopsided right now, there is a comeback in store. Jesus is returning to seal the victory. What is our part in the comeback victory?…
I don’t know! We’ll find out!
