Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, 14 but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” 15 And he laid his hands on them and went away.
You have heard for many decades from some people that they would hate to bring people into such a world as this. It is far worse today than ever but there is no reason to forego children or worse, abort them. In Jesus’ day, the Romans were in charge of Palestine and Israel had long ceased to be a nation. Many may have said they could not bring people into such a world. Thankfully the vast majority did give birth and brought their children to Jesus to be blessed by him. Jesus was willing to lay hands on them and bless them because he knew the world needs children.
This is true now more than ever. We need godly parents to have children, dedicating them to the Lord. Instead, the birth rate in America is historically low. We need children to be brought to Jesus to be blessed by him. We need them to grow into strong and powerful warriors for him in the battle. Jesus loves the little children, all the little children of the world. Let us encourage them, showing them that, no matter what the world is like, it is better for having the smiling faces of little ones. They are the next generation of pastors, missionaries, and prayer warriors…
Let the children come to him.
