He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” 24 And they glorified God because of me.

2 Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus along with me.

These words are written by Paul in the letter to the Galatian churches, probably the earliest writing we have from him (c. 49 AD). He told them how, after he was saved so dramatically on the Damascus Road, he did not immediately start “Paul Ministries” on TV and write books. He went to Arabia for three years, spent fifteen days with Peter, which must have been amazing, and then elsewhere for another long period of time. What was he doing? Preparing diligently with prayer and study for the calling God had in store for him.

This quarantine won’t last fourteen years. Relax. But it will last more than 15 days. I have seen many articles telling us what we can do during this time, paint, learn a language, etc. Might I suggest imitating Paul? Prepare for your own calling when you get out of this joint. You may not feel you are called to do anything for the Lord but you are. He didn’t save you for no reason but for a purpose. He is even using this pandemic for his purpose. What it is, we don’t know. You have had your Damascus Road experience. Take this time for extended prayer, extended study of the Bible, and preparation for the ministry you will perform. If you have not met Jesus on your Damascus Road. Open the Bible to John and meet him in your living room…

Then get ready.
