“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.”

“Do you hear what I hear? That is one of the songs we love to sing at Christmas but it is a really good principle of what we try to do at Cape Community Church. It is simple obedience to the Great Commission to make disciples. This song by Regney Noel and Shain Gloria Adele is the story of making disciples that make disciples. The sheep told the shepherd boy who told the king who told the people. It started when the angel told the shepherds of the birth of the Messiah, our Savior, Jesus Christ. It did not end there and has not to this day.

We go on Prayer Walks three days a week to different areas in our community. We ask how we can pray for them and, if the need is there, we fill that need. Martin Luther said it best. “We are only beggars, telling other beggars where we found food.” Notice that the smelly shepherd and the king were doing the same thing. There is no qualification for proclaiming that Jesus Christ is born and he is risen. We have been blessed with the good news and can truly have a Merry Christmas because of the hope we have in this dark world. There are so many who are alone and need hope this Christmas…

Do they hear what you hear?
