Come, everyone who thirsts,

      come to the waters;

                  and he who has no money,

      come, buy and eat!

                  Come, buy wine and milk

      without money and without price.

When we go to a baseball game, the vendors walk around yelling, “peanuts!”, “popcorn!”, “Beer here!”. Here is Isaiah, speaking prophecies of the Lord, calling out all that the Lord has to offer those who are in relationship with him, who are in covenant with him. When two people enter into covenant, they combine their power, their finances, and their pantry! Here the people can see that everything they want, the luxuries of life, wine and milk, are free of charge because of who God is and who they are, his chosen people. Imagine at the baseball game that everyone pays for their concessions while you walk up and get all you want and don’t even reach for your wallet. You don’t beg. You don’t feel guilty about it. You just enjoy it.

Come to Cape Community Church and listen to Carl Price preach about the believers’ hunger and thirst for righteousness. Come see that it is given to us free of charge. There is no begging for forgiveness. There is no guilty groveling before the vendor of righteousness. It is yours because of our covenant relationship with God through Jesus and his death on the cross. People try to buy this by being good and doing good, thinking they have earned it like the older brother in the Prodigal Son parable. It is us, the younger brother, that walk up and enjoy it…

Come and get it!
