I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me.
This is a prayer of Jesus for his disciples, his future disciples, you and me, and for the world, that it would hear the word. Think about this for a moment. Jesus is about to be betrayed by one of his disciples, the others will run like rabbits, and the current world superpower will nail him to a cross. He was about to suffer excruciating pain (the word literally means out of the cross) and die for crimes he did not commit. And yet, he prayed for you!
That is why his grace and love are amazing and why we sing of it. Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow as we study the source of our information that amazes us so. We will see why the word is truth, because it is God’s word and it never fails. We will study the Bible to see why we can trust the Bible and learn…
O how he loves us!
