And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
I was recently given a tremendous gift from a cherished friend. I now own a transcript from a sermon from Charles Spurgeon in 1889 with his writing on it. What a great thing to look at! As great as it is, look at what was given to Moses! God gave him the Ten Commandments on stone. Not only was Moses permitted to be in the presence of God on Mt. Sinai. He was given two tablets of stone, written with the finger of God! This was no mere souvenir, but the symbol of the covenant that made Israel God’s people and YHWH their God.
Come to Cape Community Church tomorrow as we gather in person to worship our covenant God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are beginning a new series called, What Do You Say the Bible Is? We will explore the beginnings of Scripture here in Exodus. We will examine the truthfulness of Scripture throughout church history. We will see what the Bible says about the Bible. Most of all, we will see how the Bible is not just a man made construction of ideas gleaned over three thousand years or so. It is the eternal word of God given to us so he can continue to speak to us until we see him face to face. Join us in our church building and…
